School Edges .
Today in Photography we focused on Edges . We got given a mirror to explore the reflection of edges . I was mainly focusing on sharp edges like buildings , framed pictures & outside objects .
WWW: I focused on what sort of edges I wanted to capture and then took some clear photos with nice backgrounds that made the edegs look sharper .
Photoshop. |
EBI: If I took some photos using the mirror or used different styles of edges . Also if some of the pictures were more focused.

In this lesson we played about with photoshop and ways we can make our photos pop more and make them stand out .
Look Up, Look Down.

Paper Edges.
In todays lesson we made paper edges in the classroom using a big white piece of paper.
First we folded and positioned the paper into different positions and angles and took photos of the shadows and they way they folded. We turned off the light and put the flash on our camera and photographed the shadows and images they made and these photos are the outcome.

Laszlo Moholy-Nagy.
Which formal elements are important e.g. line, shape, form, rhythm, pattern etc ?
In Laszlo Moholoy photos the most important elements in his photos are mainly lines& shapes, because he uses the lines to direct your eyes. The shapes are also important because they make the photos look more sharp and help you look at different areas of the photos .

Assessment.
These are four images I chose from the pile.
I chose these photos because, they are all quiet random photos and in a way they are all linked to some sort of food, for example, Birthday you have food, an egg is food and the tunnel could lead to food. But I also chose these photos because most of them have bright but dull colours as well. They overall are made up of squares and circles. |
WWW: I made my photos into a very unusual sculpture and
finished it in the amount of time I had. (my egg got its very own spot).
EBI: If I planned what I was going to do with my photos before better.
Also could of choose more colourful photos to give it more of an effect.

WWW: I managed to use photoshop creatively to put my sculpture on there , also made the photo a suitable size to look like its meant to be there .
EBI: I made my sculpture more suitable to the background. And used better photos.

Edges Photograms.
What was our task?
Our task was to make 2 photograms with objects that had edges that we liked and then switch the position they was in 3 times after 2 seconds with the light on. Then for the final photogram I didn't moved the position I did a still photogram and left the light on for 6 seconds.

What did you do? / Objects I chose?/Outcomes?
I chose a clock, scissors , photo film, a circular donut looking polystyrene circle.
In today's lesson we chose objects that we thought had nice edges and took photograms of them in the dark room.
- For the first photo I used a clock with smooth edges on the side and weird buttons on the top, I moved it in different places and came out great and clear . I left the light on for 2 seconds the moved it and repeated this 3 times .
- For the second photos I used the same object but positioned it differently.
1. 2. 3.
Number1. was my favourite one because its so clear and exactly how I wanted it.
number2. was my second favourite because its also was clear and exactly how I wanted it.
number3. DONT LIKE IT ! Because you can't see anything.

This is my favourite image.
What next ? My next step is to find images that make a collage. |
Wolfgang Tillmanns.
Wolfgang Tillmans.

Triptych.
What is a triptych in photography ?
A triptych is when photos are usually arranged with a plain border between them.
The work may consist of separate images that are variants on a theme, or may be one larger image split into three.
How do you create a triptych ?
You choose your three photos that compliment each other, then open all three into photoshop after that adjust all the photos to be the same size and expand the background so there will be space between the photos for a boarder once that is done you copy the other photos on there, finally save the photo and upload.

Diptych.
A diptych is similar to a triptych in terms of the similarities and the communications between a selection of photos, however a diptych only include two pictures.
In todays lesson we took photos of images that form a diptych and in my diptych I did objects tat were yellow.
My Favourite:
These photos link because:
- They both have yellow in them.
- They both relate to the use of your mind.
- They both link with lines.
Edges Comparison.
Robert Frank - Sick of Goodbys, Mabou, 1978
|
Lorenzo Vitturi - Red#1,2013
|
Describe both of these photographs as carefully as you can. What can you see?
In image 1 (Robert Frank "Sick of Goodbys",Mabou,1978), The image is very dark / dull and quiet blurry. In this picture I can see two large mirrors one saying "sick of" and the other mirror saying "good bys". In the 'sick of' image a person is holding some sort of toy / doll figurine, then in the 'good bys' image there is what looks like a door, or another mirror underneath the 'good bys'. Furthermore in image 2 (Lorenzo Vitturi Red#1,2013. The image is very colourful / bright and very clear. In this picture I can see a brick with spaghetti scattered across it , then a plant pot with some red circular ball things inside& out of it, then theres flowers placed in different areas of this image in addition theres a big red& brown ball attached to the plant pot on the corner. Finally theres a blue cup placed on top of the ball, then theres a coconut attached to the large ball, In the background theres an orange and blue wallpaper and then a white table where the sculpture is standing on. |
Sequence of Edges.
Blue.
In this lesson I changed my project idea to lights because yellow and blue colours weren't doing it for me.
So I went round school and found all the different types of lights and took photos of them.
So for the rest of my project I'm going to my photos on the window and get some asitione and make the images pop more.

Final Piece.
Overall I am pleased with the photos I selected and the way I laid them out on the acetate also,i like how clear the acetate is in the sunlight and how the lines go in line with each other the presentation of the photos really make it pop. Furthermore it would of been better if I did a clearer and more extraordinary photo and made a background to go with the photos like card or black paper to make it pop. Also I could of experimented withe the colours of the acetate and learned how to cut the acetate into different shapes that fit the other photos I took throughout the process.
Cyanotype Photography.
Anna Atkins was an English botanist and photographer. She is often considered the first person to publish a book illustrated with photographic images. Some sources claim that she was the first woman to create a photograph.
